Glenrothes in Fife gets on BT's superfast fibre broadband map

Thanks to the latest commercial rollout of superfast broadband by BT, Glenrothes is the recent Scottish town in Fife that is benefited. The fibre broadband will now connect over 2,000 businesses and homes in Glenrothes to the network through the town's North Exchange. With upgrades expected to be made in the coming weeks, total of connections may reach 47,000 properties. The rollout is expected to be completed by the end of spring, next year.


Tricia Marwick, the local MSP, welcomed the arrival of superfast broadband on fibre-optic cables and pointed that it would benefit the town's businesses and residents alike. She added that, hooking up to the latest generation technology, the economy here will stay competitive in Fife's present and future. BT's £2.5 billion commercial rollout currently has a footprint crossing 17 million premises and is set to reach another 2 million properties soon.
