BT To Provide Better Broadband Services to 75% of UK Homes

BT announced on Monday, that they would be installing an additional 150 exchanges as part of their Wholesale Broadband Connect (WBC) venture in the UK. The announcement was made by Emma Elshof, general manager for broadband products, BT Wholesale, at the BT ISP Forum held in London.

According to WBC, BT is committed to provide better broadband services to 75% of UK homes by Spring 2011. The service is expected to offer a download speed of 24Mbps.

The coverage of the network is supposed to be focussed more in West Midlands, the south coast, the Liverpool-Manchester belt and Northern Ireland.

The broadband supplier had already installed 148 exchanges earlier this year. BT also has plans of installing more exchanges in the coming months. Announcements for the same are said to be made in summer 2010.
