Tiscali TV Expansion Priority: Carphone Warehouse
Carphone Warehouse has revealed their intentions of expanding their newly acquired Tiscali TV service, which delivers video-on-demand and Freeview, in the United Kingdom. The Italian telecoms company's TV service boasts of around fifty thousand customers in the country. On the expansion of the Tiscali TV service, Carphone Warehouse CEO, Charles Dunstone said to the Financial Times that the company was examining the possibilities and scopes of its TalkTalk broadband and phone business's expanding the newly acquired TV service. It was last week that Carphone had finalised the Tiscali UK assets GBP 236 million deal. The company had already taken a giant leap by expanding its business domain from mobile phone sales to laptops, games consoles, MP3 players and finally to broadband provision. Dunstone added that TalkTalk was contemplating on its participation in Prject Canvas as well. Project Canvas is an IPTV proposal, which is the joint venture from BT, BBC and ITV. It has been proposed with a view to provide viewers with access, free of subscription to internet conent through TV and on-demand services.
