Three recovers after national outage of mobile broadband

Thursday, June 6th 2013

Mobile operator Three  of UK faced an issue on its ultrafast 3G platform when a large number of mobile broadband customers around the country could not access the internet. The issue began around the evening of 3rd June in London and began to spread out to other parts of the UK. The issue did not affect the voice and text messaging services fortunately.

It has been since fixed and the issue resolved. Three has not made any specific comment on the issue but some light on the problem was found. The problem was observed after the authentication process, as no IP addresses could be assigned thereafter and so users of the 3G devices could not access the internet on the wireless network.
