170 Percent Rise in Mobile Broadband Customer Base Reported by 3

One of the leading mobile broadband suppliers in the United Kingdom, Three UK has come up with a report that states a rise by 170 percent in the mobile broadband customer-base of the operator in the country. This surge in the company's customer base has been deemed remarkable by many broadband experts of the country.


 


Three UK LogoThe survey was carried out by Hutchison Whampoa for a term of six months starting from January 1 2009 to June 30 2009. The report has revealed that the 3.8 million current mobile broadband customer base of 3 UK, marked an increase of 170 percent over the previous twelve months. It was also disclosed that the revenue of the company too rose by 3 percent over the same term.


 


This was recorded in spite of an 11 percent decline in the average active user revenue. The company has released these figures immediately after the announcement of 3 that it was planning to launch MiFi, a , before the end of 2009.


 


According to the chairman of Hutchison Whampoa, Li Ka-shing, the decline reflected price competition, apart from continuous slashing of termination and roaming rates in certain markets and the surge in the proportion of the customers accessing mobile broadband, in the customer base of 3 Group.
