TalkTalk signs new MVNO agreement with O2 after Vodafone's period

TalkTalk, UK's budget phone and broadband provider has struck a new Mobile Virtual Network Operator agreement with O2, as the agreement with Vodafone is soon ending. With the ISP signing a multi-year deal with O2 (owned by Telefonica UK), TalkTalk has confirmed the switch of the MVNO deal despite that fact that Vodafone has managed to increase by 40,000 plus to the total of subscribers, as reported a week back in their Q3 report of this year. TalkTalk now has a total of 348,000 subscribers, under the Vodafone management of their mobile customer base and expects to see further growth. TalkTalk has focus on becoming a quad-play provider in the near future.

On the other hand Vodafone lost another deal earlier in this year, which is the MVNO agreement with BT, but has confirmed their re-entry into the consumer broadband market. O2 and Vodafone have a joint network sharing agreement going, with similar pricing and products offered, which probably can help the MVNO swap to go relatively unnoticed by it customers.

The CEO of TalkTalk, Dido Harding, said they are building on their success in mobile to benefit from the market shift to quad-play. Telefonica UK working with them will further accelerate their quad-play growth. CEO of Telefonica UK, Ronan Dunne, said the MVNO agreement with TalkTalk is part of the heritage of being a trusted provider for MVNO, private and public organisations and as a leading source of connectivity provided by their nationwide network investment.
