It has been asserted that a lot of the homes in the UK can better their broadband speeds by conducting simple home maintenance checks.

Broadband provider TalkTalk has stated that over half a million of the people who have subscribed for broadband connections were losing 4 Mb of download speeds on account of the fact that the set-up in their homes are not up to the mark.

The company remarked that this was more or less equal to 2.3 million MB of speed that was being wasted each second by the subscribers of Internet in the country.

The provider said that the users could increase their download speeds by ensuring that they make some really simple alterations in their wiring, their filters and telephone sockets and their routers.

A Bright Sparks Engineer from TalkTalk, Mr. Dan Downham remarked that a little of fundamental maintenance at home and some refurbishment of the cables in the living room would do wonders to hasten the speeds for Interconnectivity to a great extent. He stated that though the megabits were getting into the homes, they were wasted even before they were even utilized. He said that the residents required considering broadband in just the same way that they consider electricity and water; they should think of it like a service that would be wasted if they not utilize it with care.
