UK ISPs to Get Music Station
The new service is expected to let the users in the UK to stream music videos and songs legally to their PCs or set top boxes, using the broadband network. This point is significant as the internet music file-sharing is rife these days. At present, MusicStation has contracts with Warner, Sony, Universal and EMI. Apart from this, it is already providing Vodafone and Telenor mobile users with music streaming service of the unlimited kind. Omnifone spokesman Rob Lewis said that every day about ten million European consumers engage in music piracy. He also added that they needed to deliver alternatives, which recognised the desires and requirements of the YouTube generation.
Omniphone, the UK firm has unveiled the Next Generation MusicStation that would give the cable companies and the ISPs the opportunity to present unlimited videos and music through broadband. It is reported that Sky has already signed up to the music service of unlimited subscription. Although, the news was out that Omnifone was clubbing with ISPs, no other names have come up yet other than Sky.
