Sky Broadband to Spar with Ofcom
Sky Broadband, a popular internet service provider in the country that is renowned for its broadband and TV bundle packages, has disparaged the regulator’s reform-proposals to the digital television market. Reports say that the UK ISP has already published a document accommodating the criticism. The document published by Sky Broadband reportedly claims that the plans set by the regulator that would allow the rival ISPs to purchase its best value content at lower prices, if allowed to go ahead, will affect the company’s interests adversely. A relevant news article was also found published in the Financial Times. Meanwhile, Jeremy Darroch, the chief executive at Sky Broadband, commented that the company was previously in line with sharing premium film and sports channels with other companies, although it had preferred the use of a self-retail model. According to him, it was vivid that the proposed intervention of Ofcom, was not about the availability of their channels to other service suppliers. Darroch added that the imposition of price controls on the marketplace was the major point behind the regulator’s attempts. He had revealed his views to the Daily Telegraph, through a statement.
One of the leading UK broadband service providers in the United Kingdom, Sky Broadband is all set to clash with the telecommunications watchdog of the country, Ofcom, reportedly by releasing a report denouncing the planned reforms of the regulator in the digital TV market.
