The satellite broadcasting, broadband and telephony services company, BskyB, reputed for improving technologies, accomplished a multimillion purchase of stake in Zeebox social media.

The Sky Broadband unit, with more than three million customers, is spending a substantial sum to upgrade its network as the company aims to become the largest internet provider in the UK.

The new network brought by Alactel-Lucent is based on ‘next generation technology’ which guarantees data speeds of 100 Gigabits per second for all the 88 wavelengths of the optical fibre, taking advantage of the unique innovations of Bell Labs.

The dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) optical technology is made use of in the network. It provides simple, quick and cost effective network upgrade.
