US beaten by UK for Broadband Service
A recently carried out survey reported on Thursday by the British Computer Society has revealed that broadband internet services in the United Kingdom were more efficient that those delivered in the United States of America.
Strategy Analyctics, the market research firm had compiled the Broadband Composite index that analyses broadband services in fifty seven countries across the world and scores them in 5 categories – cost, speed, affordability, urban quotient, household penetration and affordability.
The results said that while the United Kingdom itself was ranked a disappointing 22nd position, the United States found itself a place behind it with the 23rd rank. On the other hand, the European neighbours of the United Kingdom, France and Germany finished higher at 12th and 15th ranks respectively.
The list was topped by South Korea, with the rest of the top five in the list being made up by Hong Kong, Netherlands, Lithuania and Japan.
The marketing dynamics director at Strategy Analyctics, Ben Piper said that the traditional sole metric approach of observing broadband was becoming less relevant and they felt that their multifactor index was a superior indicator of the relative broadband internet advancement of a country.
