UK Post Office forays into mobile market soon with EE

UK’s Post Office is all set to launch its own mobile phone service network towards the end of 2014. EE will be providing the necessary infrastructure for its MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) service. This new service launch will happen through an initial tally of 50 branches, along with a gradual roll-out for rest of the UK before 2014 end. This new service venture forayed into will definitely help towards building upon its existing 500,000 customer base in the home phone as well as the broadband services.


This new mobile phone venture by the Post Office forms a major part of its on-going modernization program worth £1.34 billion, a move that began in 2012 towards revamping thousands of branches of the group by 2015, across the UK. Martin George, Chief Commercial Officer of UK’s Post Office, has opined that this move will provide a genuine alternative to mobile phone users in the UK, who intend moving away from the mainstream providers and opt for a newer service.
