Tax cut off for super fast broadband service
Earlier this year, there were expectations of the 50p increase in the UK broadband tax. It was aimed to fund the broadband roll out at £170m per year. It was a result of the concerns raised by commercial players like BT and Virgin Media who were in need of extra fund for the fiber optic service. The tax was aimed to donate a key part in the total funding of the super fast broadband. But the conservatives continually opposed the new tax hike for broadband, cider and holiday homes while the Government strongly supported the decision. However, the decision to raise the broadband tax was withdrawn and was announced to cut off tax. The conservatives said that they have separate plans to fund the roll out of rural broadband infrastructure. But the experts say that the dropping off broadband tax might take the completion of high speed connectivity across UK only 2017.
