Enfield Homes among First in UK to get Superfast Broadband

It has been reported that thousands of home broadband consumers in Enfield North and Edmonton are among the first in the United Kingdom to be hooked up to the next generation super-fast broadband.


 


To be more precise, reports say that approximately thirty six thousand internet consumers in Edmonton-Enfield North region would presently benefit from the state-of-the-art fibre optic internet technology.


 


The borough, alongside Tottenham, Thamesmead, Chingford and Canonbury have been chosen by the prominent fibre optic - fixed line DSL broadband provider in the United Kingdom, BT for kickstarting its groundwork project of GBP 1.5 billion.


 


It is understood that the Bt groundwork project would see over hundred thousand homes and businesses in the areas upgrading over the coming few weeks. Besides, the telecoms provider is also hoping to provide 40 per cent of the British population faster internet access by 2012.


 


Duncan Ingram, BT's regional director for London, said that Edmonton was among the first locations in the United Kingdom to benefit from the company's fibre optic broadband and that they were committed to present the internet to the local people in a way they had never seen before.


 


Ingram added that the fibre-based broadband internet service would be really making the difference in local households and businesses, as online services were advancing as well as evolving.
