Monday, January 30th 2012

Dr Phillip Lee, Bracknell MP, is pleased with Ofcom for their announcement that the broadband coverage in the whole of UK will be enhanced. That will mean that the problem of Bracknell wills come to an end. But the businesses there do not expect so.

Brackenell is a place in Thames Valley. The place is famous worldwide because of its large information technology business activities. Surprisingly the place has only dial up connetion.

Ofcom statement when realized will be of great benefit to the all types of industries in the area.

But the business communities do not have much hope on the statement of Ofcom.

Mark Robson of Insight group does not have faith in Ofcom’s statement. BT is repeatedly postponing the plan. It was to have completed the job in December 2010. But now it says that the completion is scheduled for December 2012. He had himself written to Dr. Lee in this connection in November 2011 and again January this year, but Lee only replied that there was no response from BT.

According to Clair Prosser of Bracknell Chamber of Commerce, the proposal by BT is indeed welcome.

Bracknell Forest Council is holding a meeting to discuss about the broadband plan of the place.

The authorities have been provided GBP 1.43 million extra to provide the service to more of the residents.

The locals have got the news from the government that soon 100 Mb update will be available.

The average speed in the UK is 5 Mb. The UK’s rank is 25th in that respect.

Incidentally South Korea tops the list of countries with fastest internet speeds; the download speed there is as high as 13.8 Mb.
