Slowing Down of Plusnet Broadband Speeds Following Devious Upgrades
People subscribed to Plusnet, one of the bigger Internet Service Providers went through an interruption in their broadband network following an upgrade which brought surfing the Internet to such a sluggish pace for several of them.
A communication from the Plusnet Customer Care department informed their customers that they were looking into the issue that has cropped up while they were try to carry out the maintenance of their traffic management platform. The message also said that there was a probability that users would experience slower speeds that they usually did as it was assigned a default profile.
The slowing down of speeds began at around 8:30 on the morning of 2nd February and customers had to make do with modem speeds that were even unable to load web pages as a consequence of which complaints went pouring in on Twitter. There was even a time when the website of the company that was down too.
Plusnet support stated that their engineers had carried out a stopgap solution and several of the subscribers were experiencing improved speeds following that. They said that they were going on with trying to find out the root cause of the problem and that they would offer updates when they received more details regarding the issue.
Plusnet which is owned by BT has a rather good name amongst its consumers, in fact far better than its competitor TalkTalk. It was only of late that the regulatory authority Ofcom had stated that TalkTalk was one of the firms that people had the most grievances about.
