Plusnet starts 4G mobile phone service as a MVNO
Plusnet has announced the launch of a 4G mobile phone service which will be called Plusnet Mobile and will kick-off on 29th November. The service will offer 4G SIM-only plans, working as a Mobi8le Virtual Network Operator (MVNO). The present mobile service was originally launched in 2013, as LIFE Mobile, but EE bought it and saved it from bankruptcy in 2014. EE has been taken over by BT in a £12.5 billion deal and is now re-branding the MVNO service as Plusnet Mobile, running it on the EE network. Thus Plusnet will be adding the 4G mobile phone service to become a quad-play provider, which is already offering broadband, telephone and TV services. LIFE customers will be automatically shifted over to the re-branded service in the coming weeks. New customers can start to pre-register for the MVNO service from 14th November. Plans start at £15 per month, with 500MB of monthly data allowance, 500 texts and 250 minutes of talk-time bundled. There is a FAQ on the LIFE Mobile page that should be able to answer most of the questions raised. Plusnet has no plans to offer handsets at present. Andy Baker is CEO of Plusnet, the Sheffield-based provider, who said this is an incredibly exciting point in the company's history, as a natural next step of including a mobile service, which is a move to make them a full service quad-play provider. The CEO said that true to their Yorkshire roots, they have always prided in offering more for less to customers and Plusnet Mobile will help more people on-the-go to stay connected, with an offer of fantastic deals and rates.
