PlusNet extends trial of YouView TV services to fibre broadband subscribers

Saturday, December 21st 2013

The UK ISP Plusnet will be extending its YouView TV service trial from its staff to its Unlimited Fibre broadband subscribers, in the New Year. Customers responding to the call from the BT owned company, will be lent a set-top box, the Humax YouView+, which will give them access to Freeview's linear channels. They will also get on-demand content from ITV Player, BBC iPlayer, Demand5 and 4oD, and even can add channels like ESPN, BT-Sport, Universal, SyFy, E! or Fox.

During the trial period, probably lasting for 3 months, customers can use the set-top box and related equipment, but have to return it at the end of the period. An alternative choice is that the participant trialist would be, at that point, offered the option to take up paid-for service. The trialists should be able to give feedback through surveys, when asked for by PlusNet. The company is working now to ensure later the best possible services, to a big customer base, when launched in later months.
