Orange UK Sales Decline

Saturday, August 1st 2009

Orange UK, one of the predominant internet providers operating in the United Kingdom has reported the drop of a total of 1 million broadband subscribers in the term between 2008 quarter 4 to 2009 quarter 2. The internet service provider based in France revealed the fact during its latest half year results.

Orange UK OutletThis rate of decline however, gives hope to the broadband provider by being slower than the decline rate experienced by the ISP for most part of last year. As a matter of fact, in the term between 2008 quarter 2 and 2008 quarter 3, the broadband provider had lost around forty thousand customers. Another relevant fact is that around 45.3 percent of the ISP's ADSL broadband subscribers were now on its unbundled platform that was more cost effective.

The number of narrowband (dialup) customers of Orange UK too has declined to ninety three thousand, which is a decline of 50 percent over the same period last year. It is widely perceived that the reason behind the ISP's clinging on to its remnant customer base without selling it off was the state of the company as something more than just an internet service provider. This refers to the complicated business model that the compny has to contend with.
