EE and RAC on a deal to launch advanced telematics solution

Saturday, September 28th 2013

EE, one of the largest mobile network operators and major ISP, has partnered with RAC, a leading motoring organisation of UK, to offer a very advanced telematics solution for businesses. RAC's deal with EE, will provide their fleet with in-car telematics units and the superfast connectivity needed for it, over a 3-year period, rolled out over EE's large 2G and 3G networks. However the pioneer in 4G service will eventually put the telematics units on 4G too, in the near future.

This technology allows fleet managers and businesses to monitor remotely their vehicles, by tracking the vehicles on mileage, location and fuel efficiency. The telematics data can also be collected for use by insurance organisations, using relevant information to, maybe, alter premiums, or check driver behaviour, or find who's at fault in the case of accidents.

EE's Chief Marketing Officer for Non-Consumers, Gerry McQuade, remarked that this partnership will ensure RAC's customers are benefited and demonstrates the lead they have in superfast connectivity for telematics products in the United Kingdom.
