Survey rates O2 Fastest UK Mobile Broadband Network
A comprehensive research carried out on mobile broadband access speeds in the United Kingdom has rated the leading mobile broadband provider operating in the country O2 as the fastest mobile broadband network in the UK. The survey was conducted by a radio engineering, benchmarking and measurement consultancy that has been doing something of the kind for around twenty years. The research was commissioned by O2 itself. however, both companies claimed that the results have been verified independently by the BABT (British Approvals Board for Telecoms) During their research, Siroda had the download speeds of music files in the United Kingdom measured in twenty key cities during January, The time taken by the providers to call up a fully set web page was also recorded by the agency. The agency considered the day time between 10 to 10 as the best time to carry on with their research. This was done alongside seven days per week with a view to replicate genuine consumer patterns. The research found out that in twelve cities out of the total twenty, O2 came up with the fastest download speeds. It is interesting to see that the second place was secured by Vodafone coming up fastest in five cities. T-Mobile topped in a couple of cities and 3 UK in one. It was shocking that Orange failed to even open an account. O2, currently the largest mobile broadband provider in the UK, claimed that it delivered the fastest speed in web page transfer in London at a rate of 1.7 seconds, which was 30 per cent better than the slowest contender.
