O2 limits Broadband usage of customers
Broadband provider O2 has taken a step forward this week to limit the usage of customers on its unlimited broadband package to 10GB a month, with a threat to disconnect the network who dont abide by. It is trusted that the company has started dropping a line advise to the users of BT Wholesale based “O2 Home Access” that using net above 40GB per month is deemed excessive. Ironically, this news comes the week after O2 launched its latest advertising campaign focussing on common frustrations with broadband services, including poor customer service, and, presumably, inaccurately named 'unlimited' tariffs. It's also the kind of thing that telecoms regulator Ofcom generally frowns upon, trying as it is to make mobile providers own up to exactly what's included in the service customers are paying for.
Most of the broadband deals has got fair usage policy to forbid snaffling all the bandwidth and destroying the experience of everybody. Even then using up over 10GB per month is believed to be huge usage of O2 particularly for this tariff.
