Thursday, March 10th 2011

O2 announces its multi-million pound business contract with G4S Utility Services, which is the world's best international security solutions and also UK's main smart meter operational service provider. This is O2's first ever move into smart metering market as these providers offer smart meters to houses to fulfil the government's 2020 deadlines.
In this multimillion deal O2 will provide M2M technology that includes 200,000 SIM cards to connect smart meters throughout UK with the G4S data centre. The G4S will also be benefited as it plans to relay informations from its smart meters to its data centres and vise versa.  Ben Dowd, the business director of O2, was very proud of the fact that G4S is a major player in the smart meter marketing and O2 is their choice of provider.
