O2 set to launch a commercial trial of fibre optic broadband

This year will see the launch of commercial trial of fibre optic broadband by the leading broadband provider O2. The provider has unveiled the plans of the launch which will take place later this year. However, the company has restrained to provide details regarding the date and site of the trial. In an attempt to offer super fast broadband service, the provider is currently focusing on its pricing and packages. O2's head of home and broadband, Felix Geyr confirms the launch of commercial trial and said that the company aims to provide a LLU broadband packages that comprises of everything a customer would ask for, improved speeds, extensive support and service. This move made by O2 will challenge its rival providers BT and Virgin Media which offer up to 40Mbits/s and up to 100Mbits/s speeds respectively. Like the provider’s home broadband deals, the fibre optic packages will be available at competitive rates and special discounts will be offered for existing O2 customers.
