O2 ditch

Friday, June 11th 2010

O2 has decided to stay away from selling endless mobile broadband data in their contract on new smart phone that is expected to launch by 24th of this month along with new iPhone 4, instead is offering users set limits of up to 1GB of data.

Along with unlimited text message, included are unlimited UK Wi-Fi via the Cloud and BT Openzone hotspots. However O2 still runs a promotional offer until 1st of October 2010 which renders unlimited usage of data on all smart phone tariffs subject to more usage policy.

Existing customers using unlimited data contracts will experience no change in their terms in which an excessive  usage policy is also applied.

After O2's recent launch to Nobble broadband niggles campaign and mis use of the term 'unlimited', the clarity of the new tariffs with clear limits on what data can be used is actually welcoming. O2 says that the new plan affects only 3% of its users since the rest 97% are smartphone customers.
