Tuesday, February 18th 2014

O2 broadband UK recently announced that its existing customers will be contacted to upgrade to 4G provided they have a 4G enabled phone. According to the provider, an operator will contact customers regarding this and the upgrade will be done free of cost for the existing customers.

However, it is not clear as to how many will be contacted for the upgrade process but as per reports about one million customers have 4G phones currently. O2 reports that the aim of the upgrade is to deliver the benefits of 4G services to its customers. The upgrade will be given along with Pay Monthly 4G tariffs that were introduced last year. The process of upgrade is expected to start this week and the existing customers will be contacted sometime next month.

O2 has added its 4G services to St Albans and Brighton thus extending its next generation speed to 160 towns and 15 cities in the UK.
