Significant rise in mobile phone broadband take-up
As per the latest report of global system for mobile communication, the increase of mobile phone broadband take-up is mainly due to the popularity of smart phones, internet tablets and mobile broadband dongles. Worldwide, the 3G mobile broadband connections and HSPA rises at the rate of 19 million per month. By end of June 2011, the global take-up of mobile broadband will reach 500 million and by one more year, the figure will reach 1 billion. The findings suggest that there are more than 350 HSPA networks in 132 nations and over 3000 mobile broadband devices. Previous year saw an increase adoption of new generation broadband technologies such as HSPA+ and LTE. In 50 countries, there are over 88 HSPA+ networks and the figure will grow to 140 very soon. With the upgrade, consumers will enjoy 80Mbps download speed even during peak hours. In Western Europe and North America, LTE networks with the capability of 100Mbps download speeds are gaining popularity. LTE now has one millions users worldwide and the take-up could increase drastically in the future. Joss Gillet, senior analyst at wireless intelligence said the price, availability and regulation of these technologies will determine the take-ups in the coming years.
