Significant 3G Mobile Broadband Notspots Exist in the UK: Ofcom

Ofcom has revealed recently that there still existed critical mobile broadband notspots in the UK, when it came to 3G coverage. Besides, the telecoms regulator has also pledged that it would investigate the reason for the failure of mobile broadband coverage in some places, especially in the rural areas. It also promised an investigation into the existing discrepancies in the mobile broadband speeds pertinent to different areas at various times of day.


 


UK 3G Mobile Broadband Coverage MapThe 3G service that enable people to get connected to the web through a wireless network, either using a dongle, datacard or a mobile phone, which can be plugged into a laptop or PC, is offered in the UK by operators such as O2, Vodafone, 3, T-Mobile and Orange. The predominant questions despite all the hypes on the technology, are on the reliability of these services and their fulfilling the given promises on the internet accessing speeds.


 


Ofcom also revealed that the one year term between 2008 February and 2009 February had seen around a couple of million fresh mobile connections in the country.
