Poor Mobile Broadband Coverage in the UK – Complains eBay

Ofcom has received a complaint about the poor mobile broadband coverage in various parts of the UK. The complaint has been raised by the online auction firm eBay. A research was carried out by Verdict, as a result of the request from eBay. According to the research, nearly 16% of the UK is an "m-commerce not-spot". This means that the mobile spending is these areas are at least 20% below the national average. It has been found out that Scottish highlands and islands and rustic areas of England and Wales were worse in this regard. According to Angus McCarey, retail director of eBay UK, mobile shopping is a very good prospects for the retailers as well the economy of the country. However, he pointed out that the reliability and the cost of mobile broadband has prevented people from using it. It is deemed that the retailers in the UK will be getting £1.3bn every year, if the mobile connectivity was good. eBay complained to Ofcom, considering the fact that they are looking after the rules for the 4G mobile broadband spectrum auction.
