The mobile broadband customers in the Europe have been in the forefront of the worldwide mobile broadband revolution, as they form the largest mobile broadband subscriber-base of any region. This fact has been revealed by a research conducted on the context by ITU (International Telecommunication Union).

Global Mobile Broadband Use Soars upThe report put forward by the ITU research claimed that the subscriptions for mobile broadband services in the continent were on the rise and were expected to touch the magic mark of six hundred million worldwide by the end of the year 2009.

The report has also showed that worldwide fixed-line broadband subscribers were exceeded by the mobile broadband subscribers in the year 2008, with the largest number being claimed by Europe, along with the Pacific and Asia market.

The report from the ITU has claimed great news value these days after the chief executive of Carphone Warehouse, which is the parent company of UK broadband service provider TalkTalk, Charles Dunstone stated that the mobile broadband popularity in the United Kingdom has reached its saturation point, and consumers were increasingly returning to the fixed-line broadband solution.

Dunstone has also commented in an interview with the Guardian that mobile broadband was predominantly supplementary rather than a substitutionary service, and an increasing proportion of the sales of Carphone Warehouse was of prepay mobile broadband dongles.
