Mobile Broadband Alternatives weaken Fixed Line Broadband
Anxious broadband providers operating in the United Kingdom are currently, closely and carefully watching the growth of mobile broadband services in the broadband internet access market with a view to making out any sign of the latter weakening the access market significance of theirs.
This path has been followed by the dominant UK broadband providers serving the country’s internet consumers, mainly on grounds that a steady attrition in terms of revenue was experienced with landline voice services in the United Kingdom as customers were found to be increasingly substituting them for mobile alternatives for many years now.
This fact is substantiated by some recent findings of the telecommunications regulator of the United Kingdom, Ofcom. According to the findings of the regulator, 6 per cent of the broadband internet consumers in the country fully depended on mobile broadband connections, while 8 per cent of UK households enjoyed a combination of mobile and fixed line broadband versions.
Meanwhile, it is quiet amusing to know that mobile broadband customers overtaking the fixed-line broadband consumers was found out in Austria. This is nonetheless far greater than the same group in the United Kingdom.
It was also disclosed that the wealthier internet consumers were driving the mobile broadband use in the country.
