Making best use of unused spectrum

It has been established that almost GBP 48 Billion can be saved if the vacant radio frequencies are made use of for mobile broadband. Plum Consulting, the well known telecom analysts observe that utilizing the L-band or 1.4 GHz frequencies for mobile broadband will enormously improve the services of the business and simultaneously reduce the cost of the mobile service. The rules have to be modified accordingly. The ratio between downloading and uploading is 8:1. It is a vast imbalance. It is certain to increase as more and more people start using the smart phone. Most of the European countries are leaving the L- band unused. It is prudent to utilize it for downloading. With the help of the available spectrum the mobile operators can avail the necessary capacity and in turn offer excellent service to the consumers. Incidentally, in Britain a telecom establishment Qualcomm won the auction of 1.4 GHz spectrum, initiated by Ofcom in 2008. Qualcomm is now making the best use of the spectrum for testing, researching etc.
