Funding LTE Technology Projects is the Latest Global Trend
It has been reported that mobile broadband companies around the world were contemplating on spending $ 3.3 billion for building LTE (Long Term Evolution) networks and base stations in 2011. This has been reported by ABI Research, a mobile broadband research agency. According to the research agency, the global expenditure on the mobile broadband technology infrastructure was enough for erecting 142,000 base stations across the world. Meanwhile, the spending on LTE equipment was projected to rocket between 2011 and last quarter of 2012. This has been forcasted taking into consideration the fact that more mobile broadband operators have set live their next generation mobile broadband trials. It is also worth musing over the fact that Vodafone had earlier this month claimed that LTE could be a pragmatic alternative to fibre-optic broadband. According to a senior analyst at ABI Research, Nadine Manjaro, the vendors would be shipping the equipments for base stations, in significant quantities in 2010, well ahead of the typically one year termed limited trials. She also said that the base stations required to be manufactured to include the LTE components to make them standalone from 3G networks, although there may be re-use or sharing of the existing cabinet equipments and mast.
