3 UK reduces international mobile broadband charges to half

3 UK has reduced mobile broadband charges to half for those travelling to South Africa to watch the Fifa World Cup. All its customers will also enjoy reduced roaming charges between the month of June and July at no extra cost. This facility is mainly focussed on the football fans going abroad and for those who want to get updated with match and other information.

The sales and marketing director of 3 UK admitted the importance of keeping in touch with friends and relatives when on holiday. He also said that the smartphones meant that data roaming was mainstream and since some operator's data had high roaming prices, they have decided to reduce the cost for the UK football fans especially with the data roaming charges.

3 UK also commented that there are other providers who offer less mobile broadband deals. But they require customers to buy some amount of data before taking up the reduction and also charge extra for the privilege.

It costs £1.25 per MB on the deal together with £1.40/min to make a call, 99p to receive a call, 25p for an MMS message and 35p for a text message. Anyway, Deloitte's information and technology has warned that networks could become saturated especially during the weekday matches throughout the tournament if people depend on mobile broadband to enjoy the game.
