MP for West Worcestershire, Harriett Baldwin has asked the county to act fast to be able to win broadband funding. She has asked them to speed-up the bidding process in order to secure a part of £530 million funding set aside to bring broadband in rural areas. To understand the depth of broadband problems in West Worcestershire, she had carried out talks with representatives of parish councils, local businesses and people in the last few months. She has asked the county to seek funds to bring broadband to areas where service is inaccessible. Adrian Hardman head of Worcestershire County Council said that this issue is given prime importance in the agenda of the council and it is among the top priorities. Council is planning a great bid to secure a part of the broadband funds and it also plans to connect slow spots and the not-spots in rural areas, he added. Council also aims to work with private sector to bring broadband in urban locations.
