WISPA - a new campaign established in Wales

Saturday, June 11th 2011

Wales Internet Service Providers Association (WISPA) is established in Wales and it will help to connect Wales with improved broadband service. With an aim to enhance self-regulation of the ISP sector within the country and to bring better service to customers, WISPA will lead Wales towards a bright digital future. The main tasks of WISPA will involve making representation to WAG [Welsh Assembly Government] bodies including Department for Business, Innovation & Skills and Ofcom on behalf of the industry. WISPA is approached by both Government and political representatives for advice and knowledge. WISPA chairman will be the former Ofcom head of broadcasting and telecommunications for Wales, Hywel William. WISPA wants more providers to join with them and want to carry out talk with BT as soon as possible, he said. A study into the internet availabilities and customer’s feeling towards broadband in Wales is already started by the organisation. ‘Customer Satisfaction’ has been launched by the organisation last month along with Internet survey. Customers were requested to complete the Questionnaires. Education campaign that highlights the advantages of faster broadband will also be conducted by them soon.
