Winners announced for INCA Altnet Broadband ISP Awards 2018

The Independent Networks Co-operative Association has recently announced the winners of their AltNet Broadband ISP Awards at the inaugural event which was held on 5th November at the Amba Hotel located at Marble Arch, London with a dinner. These awards are to recognise and celebrate the services of best alternative broadband network providers in the country.

The INCA is an association of organisations that supports development of independent digital infrastructure and networks. The applications for entry were open, to all the operators, network builders and other independents who work for achieving improvement of the digital infrastructure of the country, till 7th September. There were 7 categories announced which included Commercial Innovation, Technical Innovation, Rural Impact, Urban Impact, Best Public Sector Impact, Best Community Project and Outstanding Contribution.

The winners were selected by an expert panel of 5 judges including from the FCS, Point Topic, Objective Designers, Plum Consulting and Consultant Chris Pateman. But the thing is that there was no testing on technical aspect done. The results were declared on 5th November at the INCA Awards Dinner. The winners are from a mix of FTTH/P based networks and fixed wireless providers.

Technical innovation : Broadway Partners

Commercial Innovation : Tameside Council

Urban Impact : KCOM

Rural Impact : Lothian Broadband Networks

Best Community Project : Balquhidder Community Broadband CIC

Best Public Sector Impact : City of London Corporation & London Law Society

Outstanding Contribution : Hyperoptic

Outstanding Individual Contribution : Simon Wade of Emtelle
