60% of UK residents save money from comparison Sites- Virgin Media
Virgin Media had entrusted an independent survey which revealed that 90 % of the British residents have saved money via the Internet as two thirds of them have been utilizing comparison websites. They also state that people believe that broadband provides better value for money than other forms of leisure particularly as plenty of people utilize it to do their shopping online and save money other than just shopping around for the most cost effective broadband services. Every nine out of ten people who participated in the survey said that they save money by making use of comparison websites, by shopping via the Internet and also by utilizing auction websites like eBay. The Virgin Entertainment Spending survey conducted by ICM Research collected the views of more than 2000 people of which 45% stated that they could not get by without making use of broadband connectivity. This can only imply that they seemed to have forgotten the days more than two decades ago when the internet was not even thought about. In addition to logging on to comparison websites, the research also revealed that twenty percent of the people considered going out to the theatres to see cinema was a waste of money, while 15% and 12% respectively considered family outings and attending music concerts poor value for money. One other piece of statistical information that the survey showed was that a certain percentage of the people had never been to certain kind of leisure activities; 34% had never attended music concerts and the same percentage had never been to cinema theatres. There were 5% who never ate out and 10 % of the people had not utilized broadband and 16% that did not use the mobile phone. Broadband deals were being offered at great bargains in the New Year from Plusnet, the Post Office, BT, O2, Orange, Sky, XLN Telecom, TalkTalk, AOL, Tesco, Primus not to forget Virgin Media either.
