Virgin Media apologizes to customers for its wrong information

Tuesday, January 24th 2012

All the Virgin Media customers were too pleased when they got the e-mail that they were to get free upgrades.

Those on 10 Mbps were to get 20 Mbps at no extra charge. In the same way, 20 Mbps and 30 Mbps customers would be able to enjoy 60 Mbps. 50 Mbps would transform into 100 Mbps. Those with 100 Mbps would get the speed updated to 120 Mbps.

But the joy of the customers did not last long.

Virgin Media clarified that there was an error. The upgrade was only meant in the case of 100 Mbps. The company sent a second e-mail to the customers apologizing for the error and for causing inconvenience to them. Their intention for upgrade was only in the case of the 100 Mbps customers. The original email meant only for the 100 Mbps customers was sent to all four million customers by mistake. The company felt extremely sorry for the confusion and misunderstanding. The company will separately write to each customer clarifying the matter.

However the company is pleased to inform that apart from the 100 Mbps customers, the 50 Mbps customers also will get the benefit of upgrade to 120 Mbps. It will mean that much more Virgin Media customers will be able to benefit from the highest speed in the UK.
