Warwickshire County Council would pump in an extra amount of three million pounds to enhance broadband speeds throughout the county.

The cabinet of the local office accepted the grants during a meeting that was held the previous week and affirmed that the sum would be used towards the matching of the 4.07 million pounds that the government would be allocating to them via their body the Broadband delivery UK.

Moreover another sum of 500,000 pounds has been promised by the council to look after the expenses that would be incurred while trying to bring high speed broadband to the non-metropolitan regions of Warwickshire.

Portfolio Holder for Sustainable Communities at the Local authority, Councillor Alan Cockburn defined quicker broadband as an extremely vital technology for their rural regions.

He also said that on condition that their proposal was accepted by the Broadband Delivery UK, the team would be set to begin the procurement stage of the scheme by July of the current year.

Mr. Cockburn stated that the provision for the new facilities was scheduled to start the coming year.

The remainder of the match and project investments would be contributed by the Coventry City Council, Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council and the five district boroughs that come under the Warwickshire.

The residents of Solihull, Coventry and throughout Warwickshire are being urged to fill up a set on online questionnaires that have been put up by the council. This would help the council measure the intensity of demand for high speed broadband and identify the services that were presently available.

A total sum of 363 million pounds was assigned to the non-metropolitan regions of Britain by the Broadband delivery UK to finance the next generation broadband facilities.

The local offices and private business partnerships were asked to create their own plans for delivery and look for supplementary funding form other sources.

The main objective of the government is to ensure that 90 percent of the residential homes and business enterprises in the UK would be able to avail accessibility of high speed broadband internet facilities in another our year’s time.
