Thousands of Volunteers called on by Race Online 2012
It has been reported that the Race Online 2012 campaign has been calling for tens of thousands of volunteers for helping to bring broadband to the nine million adults of the United Kingdom that have never been online.
A nation-wide network of 100,000 unpaid volunteers listed for inspiring, supporting and encouraging their peers that have hardly experienced the web previously, has been announced by the digital inclusion champion of the United Kingdom, Martha Lane Fox.
The strategy has been formed as part of a challenge posted by the Race Online 2012 campaign to the regular broadband consumers across the country that amounts to 30 million across the country for passing on their skills to those requiring it.
The Race Online 2012 campaign was launched by the government with a view to realise the ambition of helping the United Kingdom emerge as the first nation in the world where every adult enjoyed access to the internet.
Meanwhile, figures from the National Statistics office have shown that around three quarters of homes had some sort of internet connection, although 18 per cent of the above 16 age group having never exploited the benefits put for the by the internet.
