The UK Would Have the Best Broadband Facilities in Europe Claims Vaizey
Ed Vaizey, the Minister for Communications has stated that the UK government would soon be providing the best broadband network services in the whole of Europe. This statement was made when the minister was answering a question regarding whether the government was dedicated enough to provide high speed broadband network coverage or whether the whole process was being put in slow motion. According to EGov Monitor’s report Mr. Vaizey had stated that he believed that the government was carrying on their work as per the original schedule so as to make certain that they meet given targets. Mr. Vaizey’s announcement was also supported by Mr. Sean Williams the Group Director of Strategy and Portfolio at BT, who said that they would quite certainly be on top of the best if not in another three years, then most certain soon after. However he did admit that it would be a challenging task for the government. The accuracy of the government’s statement would be examined when the impending report on the international Broadband speed comparison from the European Commission is presented. As per the present strategy, the government of the United Kingdom plans to provide 100% accessibility of broadband that can offer a minimum of 24 Mb speeds by the year 2015.
