The funding from EU must be made proper use of for broadband initiative
The UK broadband development followers may be aware that the Regional Development Agency (RDA) has attained the permission for Local Enterprise Partnerships to start their engines. The fact that the funds for the latter were insufficient was ignored. The politicians are severely criticizing the government’s broadband policies. Gordon Meriden, the Labour Party’s Shadow minister for Further Education, Skills and Regional Growth has stated that the government’s decision to stop the RDA is not correct and is a hasty decision. Marsden also informed that the decision may prove to be disastrous when thinking of European Broadband funding, a huge amount of which has not been utilized as the broadband plans were indefinitely delayed Tim Jones, chairman of Devon and Cornwall Business Council had already stated that the fund provided should be made full use of. Grant Shapps, the Local Government Minister stated that everything was under control and going on well and that the target will be achieved as planned. If there is any difference of opinion about it, it is unwarranted. The government is of the opinion that there is no confusion and there is no need to hurry as there are two long years left to allocate the European Union funding suitably. Only if that does not happen, the cash will be absorbed by the EU or the National Treasury.
