Though the economy of the country has hit an all time low, the largest Next Generation network operator of the UK informs that 40% of the smaller and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) are availing access to super-fast broadband connectivity as well as the latest software like the cloud in the past year alone. It has been revealed in TalkTalk Business customer data that in the last one year 10,000 additional small or medium sized enterprises in the UK are currently availing accessibility via a network that covers over 80% of the whole of the UK. Salisbury recorded the highest increase in SMEs that were accessing the super-fast broadband in the last twelve months which shows an enhancement of 46%. The list is offered below. London 44%, Hereford 43%, Oxford 42%, Worcester 41%, Inverness 39%, Swansea 39%, Aberdeen 38%, Gloucester 37% and Cambridge 36%. However, comparatively Sheffield, Wakefield and Glasgow recorded the lowest percentage in the growth of SMEs availing of high speed broadband, with 14%, 16% and 15% respectively. Because business enterprises are better linked with the outside world via super-fast broadband the past year has also witnessed a 61% enhancement in the number of people who have availed jobs with SMEs that have super-fast broadband connectivity. This also adds a boost for the productivity of workforce. Andy Lockwood the Business Transformation Director of TalkTalk stated that in spite of a very negative view of the economy, as the country’s biggest network provider it was heartening to note a wonderful increase in SMEs getting linked to high-speed business level broadband He stated that according to the survey they had carried out the small and medium enterprises in the UK were all together having a deficit of 357 million pounds due to costs relating to wasted labour. They were also missing up to 32.4 million hours of Internet downtime every month because the businesses were dependent on the home rather than the business level Internet connectivity. This, Mr. Lockwood stated was why it was imperative that business no matter whether big or small had to be connected to a super-fast broadband network connection. This was the only way that they could access cloud technology. The network they were on should be able t provide the enterprises with speed and effectiveness and make certain that they aid the economic growth in the long run.
