The main reason for the Broadband Delivery UK a government initiation, coming into being was to provide universal broadband accessibility of a minimum speed of 20Mbps to the whole of the UK. One other aim of the BDUK was to deliver next-generation broadband facilities to no less than 90 per cent of the country in the next four years, i.e. by 2015. Plenty of people utilizing the Internet throughout the UK have clearly expressed their craving for high speed broadband connectivity. As per the glossary of terms of the BDUK, super-fast broadband had been described as having a prospective headline accessibility speed of a minimum of 20Mb, with no set upper restrictions. Even the rustic regions could anticipate a bit of additional help from the government. A venture to arrange for high speed broadband accessibility to homes and business establishments in the rural regions of North Yorkshire had been set in motion. These regions could benefit from the 15 million pounds pilot scheme from the government such that they could surmount the problems that they were facing in the expansion of broadband in their area. The Rural Affairs Minister, Richard Benyon was the person who declared the venture. This programme would set up six Rural Growth Networks across the UK with each network profiting from the investments to help enhance facilities for broadband as well as mobile phone networks. Conservative MPP for Skipton and Ripon, Julian Smith stated that he would offer his backing to a North Yorkshire proposal for a part of the declared grant. He said that it was terrific news that the government had taken steps so soon and that he had been trying campaigning for high speed broadband for quite a while and that if there was a bid, he stated that he would give them his complete support. He stated that from his experiences till then, there was the need fro a multi-layered scheme that had the support of the MPs, councils and other leaders among the people for high speed broadband.
