The Broadband Tussle For Brighton and Hove Continues
The political as well as the people heading businesses have pledged that they would go on trying to avail of super-fast broadband connectivity for Brighton and Hove.
Jeremy Hunt, the Secretary of State for Culture has not permitted the city to bid for a 100 million pound grant to provide high speed broadband in the cities in the UK.
He stated that Brighton and Hove just missed reaching the specified number of 150,000 houses but he has promised that he along with the leaders in the city would endeavour to ensure that the status of the city as a technological and cultural hub is in tact.
This city has 125,000 houses.
People who are backing the Argus Let Brighton Bid campaign have stated their dissatisfaction however they are trying to get to meeting Mr. Hunt to know what he can really do for the city.
Hr. Hunt commented that it was heartening to find that there was such eagerness for super-fast broadband in Brighton. He said that this specific venture was designed and restricted to the bigger cities however he would be interested in trying to go along with the city to find out how it would be able to reach it objective to attract and lure broadband as a centre for technology and culture.
The Chairman of Wired Sussex and the Managing Director of the digital company called Cogapp stated that the tussle was not over yet and that they would keep trying to meet Mr. Hunt and that they would whatever they could to present Brighton and Hove as a centre for digital media.
Mike Weatherly the Conservative MP for Hove said that he hoped to meet Mr. Hunt soon to talk over their proposal for a bid at length and would also like to hear of any other options that Mr. Hunt may have to propose.
