It seems that in order to improve broadband facilities in the UK, the government has done a great deal. IN addition, to make certain that the strategies are all in place they have started the Broadband Delivery UK programme. This venture has many objectives. On of their main goals is to provide universal broadband accessibility with minimum speeds of 2Mbps to the whole of the UK. Another of their objectives is to ensure that the super-fast next-generation broadband know-how is delivered to at least 90 per cent of the people in Britain. The county Council of Oxfordshire had already promised that they would do their best to ensure that the broadband services in their region are speeded up. This actually followed after the Euro MP showed anxiety over the fact that the broadband coverage in the locality was very poor. They have declared that they would grant an amount of ten million pounds to help enhance broadband facilities in the County, thereby keeping up their promise. An amount of 3.86 million pounds has been assigned to the county by the government via the BDUK scheme for broadband development ventures. This is when the council declared they would match the government grant under expected capital financial plans of the Conservative administration. A further amount of 6.14 million pounds would be added to carry out the upgrades on the broadband system of Oxfordshire Community Network for schools in Oxfordshire. David Robertson, Deputy Leader of the Council said that network in schools required to be enhanced. He said that a couple of schools already have high speed broadband facilities and a majority of the secondary schools avail of 100 megabits per second already. He stated that the Oxfordshire Community Network was far better than what any schools could avail of. He also stated that by improving the networks they could save more than a million pounds every year. The rest of the grant would also be used for providing high speed broadband in the rest of the county. He also stated that they were already planning new ideas to see how they could solve their broadband connectivity issues.
