Super fast broadband for Keighley, West Yorkshire
About 14,700 homes and business establishments of Keighley of West Yorkshire can avail super fast broadband by the end of the next year on account of BT’s GBP 2.5 billion plan for making available fast broadband to 66% of the country by 2014.
David Green of Bradford Council remarked that access to fast broadband is a must in the prevailing economic uncertain conditions. It is necessary for the establishments to compete in the countrywide market. It gives the opportunity for creation of new jobs.
Trevor Higgins of BT stated that the subjects in the area are glad that the initiative of BT will improve their quality of life. The chances of online learning and gaining of knowledge and information will improve. The small and medium sized firms will be able to do their marketing at less cost.
Graphic and video files can be dispatched online instead of physical delivery on hard disk. The business organizations can be in contact with the customers through high quality voice and video calls. The time and effort spent on traveling can thus be done away with.
The most important aspect of all is that the interest of the rural population is taken care of.
With fiber broadband connection, a number of activities can be done simultaneously – like surfing the net, playing online games, watch TV replay, download a movie etc.
However, it is not known as to which areas of Keighley will get the immediate benefit of the current plan of BT.
