Super fast broadband ensures high cost for households

The cost of properties will soar thanks to the availability of super fast broadband.

The situation has come to such a level that life is impossible without broadband. It is in fact one of the most important utilities of the present generation.

80% of the consumers in the UK confirmed this point. For 18.5% of the people, it was of normal importance. Only for the small balance percentage, it was unimportant obviously because of their lack of knowledge about its utility.

More than 57% of the people interviewed have no objection in paying more for a property with broadband facility of speed more than 25 Mbps.

Interestingly more than 80% would not ever purchase a house without the availability of super fast broadband. However another 19% of the residents are not particular about it.

The outcome of the survey conducted by a popular website signifies the importance of increasing the broadband coverage to every nook and corner of the country.

But the service providers like BT and Virgin Media want to concentrate on up-gradation of broadband in thickly populated areas, neglecting the rural areas, because their main aim to generate profit for the company.

The European Commission has set a target of 30 Mb universal broadband access by December 2010. That will be possible only if public sector investment and private sector investment are made available for the improvement of broadband service in the rural areas of the country.
