Signature campaign by Bourne residents for improved broadband
Bret Whitecombe, a senior helpdesk analyst of Tandem Solutions, Falcon Way is so distressed with his internet connection that he wants to submit a petition to BT to install fiber optic broadband in his town of Bourne. The petition is already signed by more than 70 unhappy customers. More people are expected to follow suit. He wants the support of local businesses and residents so that number of signature crosses 5000. He is absolutely sure that companies like Tandem will improve its business with better connectivity. The residents who do everything from online banking to media streaming also will benefit. The learning facilities in schools will also improve. The students can download study materials easily, without paying substantially for IT suites. BT has not kept up its words of commissioning broadband upgrade to Bourne by the spring of 2011. By September, Market Deeping and Stanford will be catered, according to BT. But there is no mention about Bourne. However, Emma Tennant of BT hopes that the need of Bourne will be met by the end of the year. Bret is happy with such statement. Meanwhile, Lincolnshire County Council has submitted a bid for GBP 20 Million for provision of the facility in its rural areas. It is not known whether Bourne will benefit if the bid comes through. Any way Bret is pleased that the county council is in the right path to meet the needs of the community.
